I've really tried to like Thinkhost and support their sustainable initiatives. However their reliability and support have been less that optimal and have decreased substantially this year. I've experienced frequent downtimes. July 2009 had more than 6 outages, that I'm aware of. Often when I submit a ticket I get a response a half a day later with a screen capture of my site saying the site is working fine and no explanation as to why my website and/or email was not working. Their uptime guarantee is a joke and the network status, which their support people are constantly telling me to check, rather than submitting tickets, is rarely updated. I've have specifically asked to be moved to a more reliable server and told I could not. I also asked someone to investigate the frequent downtime and the only response I get is "we're looking into it" or "I've assigned this to a senior support engineer". As soon as I have time to find a more reliable host I will be running, not walking, from Thinkhost.

ThinkHost seems to be a good company up front, but you can tell these people are a farce by looking a little deeper.

First off, try to call someone. I dare you to try! There are absolutely no phone numbers listed for this company.

Their email support system is horrible and confusing.

Their "120 day guarantee" is a lie.

Do not waste your money on this company! Even after I sifted through all of the support issues, I still purchased a plan and found the control panel, ftp system, and file upload system the most confusing interface I have ever used.

Steer Clear!

I would definitely stay away from Thinkhost. I wanted a socially responsible, solar powered company to host my sites and found Thinkhost. I signed up for an account and quickly realized it was not a good company when their admin panel turned out to be so unfriendly. I couldn't even set up a database without submitting a ticket for tech support!

I immediately requested a cancellation and they never sent me an email acknowledging the cancellation or anything to the email address I had

posted as my email address. When I contact them via their email form (they don't even have a phone number on their site), they claimed they would not refund charges because they

sent me an email through their “internal email system” with the cancellation form I needed to fill out! Of course, this is an email I would never get unless I went looking for it somewhere in their hostingoperations.com

support site... Oh, but I did get their newsletter in the email address I had provided for them.

Their tech support email address is no-reply@thinkhost.com, so you know what that means...

Of course, now I can see that I am not the only one being ripped off, so check other people's reviews and stay away from them. I have dealt with many web hosts over the years, but THINKHOST IS THE WORST EVER!!!
